AMCHIS Woman
What it Entails

Abiyamo Maternal & Child Health Insurance Scheme otherwise known as AMCHIS is the State Equity Scheme for 2 sets of persons with special interests – Pregnant women and children under the age of 5 years. It gives access to FREE Antenatal care, delivery (including Caesarean section), postnatal care for the mother (up to 6 weeks after delivery), neonatal care (first 30 days of baby’s life) and treatment of common illnesses in children till they attain the age of 5 years.

The management of cervical incompetence in pregnancy with cervical cerclage and the Rhesus negative mothers with Anti-D injection are also covered under AMCHIS.

The pre-qualification criterion is Kaadi Igbeayo (Ondo State Residency Card), which is issued to “residents of Ondo State” by the State Information Technology Agency (SITA).

The State Government also mandated that Kaadi Igbeayo be issued FREE to all pregnant women.

The premium for AMCHIS is solely paid by the Ondo State Government to the Commission.

AMCHIS has a 30-day waiting period for beneficiaries.

There are 7 AMCHIS providers (+ 2 annexes) spread across the 3 Senatorial Districts of the state namely;

  • Mother & Child Hospital, Akure (Central Senatorial district);
  • UNIMEDTH Akure & Ondo complexes (Central Senatorial district);
  • General Hospital, Owo (Northern Senatorial district)
  • State Specialist Hospital, Ikare-Akoko (Northern Senatorial district)
  • General Hospital, Ore
  • State Specialist Hospital, Okitipupa
  • General Hospital, Igbokoda
