ODCHC to extend ORANGHIS to retirees,students, others – Dr Abiodun Oyeneyin

To ensure that health care becomes accessible to every resident in Ondo State, the State Contributory Health Commission (ODCHC) is set to roll out the Orange Health Insurance Scheme (ORANGHIS) for the informal sector, organized private sector, retirees, and students.

Director-General of the Commission, Dr. Abiodun Oyeneyin stated this while speaking with The Hope in Akure.

According to him, the healthcare landscape of the state has greatly improved with the commencement of the health insurance scheme, noting that Ondo aims to attain universal health coverage with it in place.

He expressed appreciation to Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa for his support to the commission, stating that the government has continued to support efforts aimed at ensuring that residents have health insurance coverage which according to him makes them healthier, more productive, and prosperous.

ORANGHIS, an insurance package for four sets of people according to Oyeneyin covers the informal sector organized private sector, retirees, and students, adding that it will be responsible for medical, surgical, pediatrics, obstetrics and gynecology, dental, eye, and some rehabilitative services at primary and referral levels of care.

Speaking briefly on other health insurance products, he revealed that the Abiyamo Maternal and Child Health Insurance Scheme (AMCHIS) which is the state equity scheme for both pregnant women and under-five children is fully funded by the government.

According to him, it has recorded over 42,960 beneficiaries.

He said that the Basic Health Care Provision Fund Programme which is a sponsored equity scheme by both the Federal and State Governments, has enrolled 50,354 beneficiaries.

The Commission boss who berated the high cost of accessing health care in Nigeria, called on residents to key into the state insurance scheme to enjoy qualitative and accessible healthcare without financial hardship.
